SunRocket

The “no gotcha” phone company has become the gotten phone company as a business while it customers have become the “we gotcha” phone users. We gotcha as yes our company has went out of business but we still “gotcha” your money you sorry sap.

Everyone should know by now that SunRocket as a company folded on July 16, 2007 leaving its 200,000 customers scrambling in the wind for a new phone service and lacking the $200 many of them had paid for SunRocket annual plan.

While SunRocket of course found ways to pay their investors we the customers were left out in the dark. Of course they have finally issued an e-mail, which list two options that SunRocket refuges can find, shelter in.

Of course many VOIP companies has swoop down like vultures feasting over the rotting carcasses of SunRocket refuges caught in a whirlwind of despair, desperation and out right dread as they try to calculate their next move.

Many questions since SunRocket was the second largest VOIP provider and it went belly up and there are than a few rumblings threatening Vonage the nation’s largest provider will any of these small independent companies be able to survive or in another six months to a year will VOIP users be left out in the lurch again?

No one knows… time will tell all…

The tragedy in all of this is how modern business is operated. SunRocket bail on its customers with no warning, with no valid explanation or even an apology. It left us high and dry like some 18th century quack selling “magical” potions and snake oil on the side of the road. At least quack put on a good show and had the decency to say goodbye.
