What side of the line?
There is nothing to fear but fear itself. Push on embrace the future the unknown. Yet using technology and the future as a way to cover up the same tired tactics of the past is an attack on everything new.
San Bernardino County Ca. is hoping to get a few Senate and Assembly bills passed that would fit paroled gang members with global positioning devices since the practice is not unlawful.
Somewhere in this proposal the logic is that paroled gang members would either be too scared or not allowed to be around current gang members for fear of having their position compromised.
Beyond the usual scare tactics of San Bernardino being home to nearly 300 gangs with around 13,000 members a bigger issue is at hand.
If the program is successful what’s next?
Ex drug dealers? Sex offenders and then after every felon is fitted should we move onto people who have yet pay their tickets or even Jaywalkers?
There has been many times in history where unfair polices were first used on criminals or the undesirables of society before being unleashed on the mainstream.
If San Bernardino really wants to curb its gang population and violence maybe the money being wasted in trying to get this bill passed and if passed the money spent on the purchasing and upkeep of GPS devices could be use to improve schools, create more recreation centers, playgrounds, create jobs, launch program for artist etc etc things that can really help….
