Gambling, yes gambling one of the world’s oldest and most corrupted professions has invaded China at full speed. Macao better known as the Las Vegas of Asia readies itself for the onslaught of Americans planning to transform this former Portuguese colony into a gambling paradise.
The Las Vegas Sands Corporation led by Sheldon G Adelson is unleashing the Venetian casino that will offer 500,000 square feet of gambling space and 6,000 slot machines.
Not to be outdone Vegas Big Timer Steve Wynn is bringing the Wynn Macao hotel and casino which will be a 600 room hotel and casino.
Preparing to deal with this attack is Stanley Ho the man who has had a monopoly on gambling in Macao for over 40 years.
While many are ready to count out Mr. Ho since he has never had to face competition. Couple with the fact that Mr. Ho is not only battling with new competition, he is have legal problems with China and many other countries as well as legal battles with his own family.
Yet Ho is not one to be taken lightly for what is at stake here is the world’s largest gambling revenue, which is right now being controlled by Ho.
