Wal-Mart ready to part with CD's
It had to happen sooner or later. Wal-Mart is preparing changes in its approach to selling music. While no clear-cut idea has been put forth one possible scenario involves cutes in the number of music titles the chain carries.
Wal-Mart execs have become frustrated with the ever-declining sales CD and have been quietly exploring changes in their approach to selling music.
This proposal has been in development for some time but an actual retail cut back will be devastating to the music industry. If Wal-Mart and other retailers stock less music consumers will have less to choose from in turn they will buy less, causing retailers to stock even less. Rinse. Repeat.
Somewhere Amazon and Apple are smiling.
