INGSOC is here
It’s official Big Brother is watching you. Well let’s not go that far. INGSOC may get me or is it the Ministry of Truth? Anyway computer and behavioral scientist at the U of Buffalo are developing a system that will allow authorities to track faces, voices, bodies and other biometrical data to create a score for how likely an individual is to commit a terrorist act.
The objective is to identify the perpetrator in a security setting before he or she has the chance to launch an attack…
The prototype in development examines a video in a umber of different security settings, automatically producing a single integrated score of malfeasance likelihood the machine will have learning capabilities, which will allow it to adapt over time.
As soon as a new person comes in for an interrogation the program will start tracking his or her behaviors and start computing a baseline for that individual on the fly…
Officials state that no technology, no matter how precise is a substitute for human judgment.
“No behavior always guarantees that someone is lying, but behaviors do predict emotions or thinking and that can help the security officer decide who to watch more carefully said Mark G Frank, PhD. Associate professor of communication in the U of Buffalo of Arts and Sciences.
"If you want a picture of the future, imagine a boot stamping on a human face--for ever."
