The Climate Of Fear

War is big business is the type of statement that so many of us hear but many of us do not take the time to understand the statement. Not only is war a big business but also the threat of war and the ensuing fear it instills is an even bigger business.

In a country where workers and employers try to find head room the biggest market opportunity in this country is Homeland Security. According various research firms by 2007 a $400 million market will exist in security sensors. An $800 million video analysis market by 2009. A $10 billion industry for biometrics, 36 billion dollars for physical security and the industry itself is worth over 200 billion dollars.

Of course everyone in this industry to attract investors use words like “ God forbid or “government money” can prevent this or that etc…

In this disaster fear based economy all paths lead to the government which equips Homeland Security with a budget of nearly 50 billion dollars in which 9 billion is set aside for the private sector. No one is not saying Homeland Security is not needed but when Security or lack of becomes a billion dollar industry closed off to a few individuals (white males) the alarm must go off.

Not only is it bad that fear is being marketed to the US population. You capitalized on that fear by creating an industry that only a selected few can enter.

When there is blood on the street buy property. The Baron would be proud.
