Ingorance is bliss: thinking and destiny

Just like the Prodigal Son I’ve return....

Out of all the so-called problems and looming crisis that face humanity in this day and age i.e. global warming, water shortages, starvation, over population, energy crisis and terrorism etc etc.

The one that mystifies and terrifies me the most is the way people are willing to take a reactionary stance on things without any self investigation, research or reflective thinking whatsoever. No I am not saying that everyone should become a reporter and check the authenticity of their sources and information being given to them. Then again, considering how many reporters and news organizations have been burned in the recent years in the hopes of giving the most sensationalized story is a perfect example of what happens when one does not authenticate and research a giving source of information.

A person thoughts shapes their outlook on life and even more importantly the outcome and direction of their life in general. So if one is always taking a reactive stance on things and not a proactive one, that can put one under the guide and control of whoever is dispensing the information. If you open your eyes you can see this happening more and more everyday in the simplest forms. From the brand of coffee that everyone drinks, to the doughnuts they eat, to the topics that talk about etc etc. What is even worse is that when someone comes along and does not drink that brand of coffee or eat the same doughnuts as everyone else they are viewed as being crazy or something. Again take a look around; there is no need to take this any deeper because it is happening on the surface with simple things.

Day in and out we the people are giving away our true freedom our ability to think and rationalize for ourselves. Is it a by product of living in an Age of Over-information that there is just too much to process so slowly we begin to depend on others to do the thinking for us? Is there some innate lazy streak in humans that makes them want to surrender themselves and more importantly their thoughts over to other individuals? Or could this be some grand design to slowly wrestle control of the one basic thing an individual has control over, their thoughts?
